Scope and Contents

Caption on the back of the photograph reads: "House built by Dr. Zabdiel Boylston, son of Dr. Thomas Boylston, first physician and town clerk of Brookline, who lived in an older house near the same site. Dr. Zabdiel introduced the practice of inocculation for control of small pox in 1721 with great success. His brother, Peter Boylston, a merchant of Boston, lived for a time in the older house. He married Ann, daugher of Ensign Benjamin White and their daughter, Susanna, marrying Captain John Adams of Quincy, was mother of President John Adams. Members of the Lee family have occupied it much in the past century." [probably 19th century]
